Message from the Chief

Welcome to the Hartville Police Department website,  This site is intended to provide information
to the citizens of Hartville and surrounding area about the Hartville Police Department and to
give you a first hand look into the operation and officers that serve the community daily.

Our department is a full service Police Department made up of highly trained professionals who
are committed to serving and protecting the residents of Hartville, and making this one of the
safest communities in Ohio in which to live.  We have 7 full time officers and 3 part time
officers, and provide 24 hour police protection to the community.

All of our officers have the basic training required by the State of Ohio and all have completed
an approved Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.  In 2007 all officers completed the annual
update Continuing Professional Training (CPT) that was mandated by the Ohio Attorney
General for the first time.  In addition to this training, many of our officers have received special
training.  We are diligently striving to provide our citizens with a progressive, professional
law enforcement agency that is second to none.

Our promise is to provide you with a highly trained, professional police force that will provide
you prompt and courteous service whenever you need us.  We will manage our resources
efficiently so as to better serve you, the Hartville Community, with the absolute best
Police Department.

On behalf of the entire staff of the Hartville Police Department, I would like to extend our
sincere thanks to all of you, for the support and cooperation you provide to the Police De-

Police Department activities.  This section answers the most
frequently asked questions.

1.     How can I file a police report?
The Hartville Police Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You can come to the Village office and request to see an officer, or you can call
        (330) 877-2500 to have an officer meet with you at the Police Department.

2.     How do I obtain a copy of a report?
The Village office is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with
the exception of some holidays.   Upon requesting a report, please have the
following information available: date, time, location, persons, and type of incident.
Officers need as least 5 to 7 days from the time of the incident, in order to process the report.

3.     How can I get a Restraining Order?
Criminal Protection Orders (alleged domestic violence, assault, stalking, or
aggravated trespass at the hands of a family or household member), you will
want to call the Law Department at (330) 438-3251 or contact a Police Officer
at (330) 877-2500 for further information.

For Civil Protection Orders (victim who seeks an order against his or her spouse),
can be filed in the Domestic Relations Court or obtained by an Attorney.  The
plaintiff will need to give a copy of the restraining order as well as the proof of
service to the police department where he/she lives and/or works.  The document
is not valid without a Court Case Number, the Court Stamp, and the Date and
        Signature of the Judge.

parking tickets listed in the BMV's data base, which we have access to, you will need
to clear your parking tickets through them.

Once these two issues are cleared, you will need to come to the Hartville Police
Department, with your valid identification, to receive a vehicle release form.  Once
you receive the release, you will be directed to the tow yard storing your vehicle.
You will need to pay towing and storage fees to the respective towing agency.
